Black Eyed Peas to Host Super Bowl Party

28 January, 2011 - Black Eyed Peas are to host a star-studded Super Bowl party. The "I Gotta a Feeling" hitmakers, who are performing during the half-time interval at the NFL showpiece game in Arlington, Texas, on February 6, have joined forces with Sports Illustrated magazine to put on the bash, which they have promised will be the hottest in town.

"As an NFL owner and a football fan, I cannot be more excited to join forces with Sports Illustrated for the hottest party of the season," group member Fergie a.k.a. Stacy Ferguson, who is part owner of the Miami Dolphins, said. "It will be the kick-off to an amazing weekend in Dallas and we can't wait to get it started."

As well as Black Eyed Peas, other guests include singer David Guetta and Sports Illustrated models Christine Teigen, Anne V, Julie Henderson and Genevieve Morton. The game, between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers, will attract a star-studded audience as well as one of the biggest TV audiences of the year.

While Black Eyed Peas will perform during the interval, earlier this week it was revealed Christina Aguilera had been given the prestigious task of singing the national anthem before the match. In a statement released by the NFL, Christina said, "I have been performing the anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true. I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event."

The Black Eyed Peas won't reveal details of their game plan, except a promise to drop-kick the beat, pile on the grooves and get the crowd's backfield in motion.

"I can't explain how big this is for us," says producer/songwriter Will.i.am. "We played the World Cup in South Africa, and that was a zillion people, but the Super Bowl is America. It's a big part of our culture, an unofficial national holiday. This is a giant honor."

Home turf is a better gig, say the Peas, who have attended the past half-dozen Super Bowls.

Will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo and Apl.de.ap (real names William Adams, Stacy Ferguson, Jaime Gomez and Allan Pineda) are eager to join the bowl marquee's starry roster.

Until the late 20th century, Super Bowl entertainment was a fairly square affair, filling the bill with marching bands, Up With People and Disney characters. The Avon Walk raised more than $6.4 million to advance access to care and breast cancer research, and attracted more than 2,800 participants from 45 states and Canada, including 322 breast cancer survivors.Fergie, a global ambassador for the Avon Foundation for Women, walked alongside walkers on the last leg of their weekend-long, 39.3-mile journey, boosting their spirits for the final stretch of the 13-mile route on Sunday. * UCLA Foundation received $180,000 to support Avon Foundation breast imaging fellowships at the Iris Cantor Cancer Center for Breast Imaging and UCLA Santa Monica Women’s Imaging Centers. Dr. Larry Bassett, director of the Breast Imaging Fellowship Program, accepted the grant.
* UCLA Center of Integrative Oncology received a grant for $300,000 to manage a multi-institutional research study to determine if biomarkers found in breast fluid can accurately predict breast cancer risk and outcomes. Care Felix, senior research study coordinator, accepted the grant.
* John Wayne Cancer Institute received $300,000 to support a research study investigating the role of one biomarker in triple negative breast cancer. Dr. Xiaojiang Cui accepted the grant.
* Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation received $740,000 to support the work of the Love/Avon Army of Women, which is changing the way breast cancer research is done by significantly reducing the time it takes to recruit research study volunteers and encouraging researchers to study the changes happening in healthy women before breast cancer develops to learn how to stop it. President and Founder Dr. Susan Love accepted the grant.
* The Avon Breast Cancer Center at the UCLA-Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and Olive View Medical Center, one of eight flagship Avon Breast Centers nationwide, received $750,000 to support the Avon Cares For Life Program, which includes on-site patient navigation, survivorship programs, a high risk clinic and clinical trials. Program Manager Lori Viveros accepted the grant.

About the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Santa Barbara

During the Avon Walk Santa Barbara, a noncompetitive event, women and men had a choice of walking a marathon (26.2 miles) or a marathon and a half (39.3 miles) over the weekend. The event kicked off Saturday, September 11, with an early morning Opening Ceremony at Chase Palm Park. Following the ceremony, walkers began their journey through Santa Barbara. Walkers had the choice of walking a half or full marathon on Saturday through the Santa Barbara area, supported by an all-volunteer crew and cheered by family and supporters along the route. Walkers and crew spent the night at the “Wellness Village” at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club in Carpinteria, CA, which featured two-person sleeping tents, hot showers, prepared meals, entertainment, volunteer medical services and comprehensive support services, along with leisure activities such as relaxing yoga to stretch out their muscles, a spa zone with mini-back-and-foot-massages, and “tool school 101” demonstrations from sponsor Tomboy Tools. On Sunday, September 12, walkers completed their final 13.1 miles, and celebrated their achievement with Fergie at the Closing Ceremony at Carpinteria State Beach with thousands of family and friends.

To participate in the Avon Walk Santa Barbara, each walker raised a minimum of $1,800 in donations. The Avon Foundation for Women [a 501(c)(3) public charity] raises and manages funds, which are awarded to local, regional and national breast cancer organizations to support five areas of the breast cancer cause, including awareness and education, screening and diagnosis, access to treatment, support services, and scientific research, all with a focus on the medically underserved.

I went to hang out with Fergie April 9 to hear about her upcoming fragrance, Outspoken by Fergie for Avon.


	She was so cool -- very real, down to earth, super open to any question and downright gorgeous. Her body is unbelievably fit (apparently, jumping up and down in five inch heels does amazing things to the calves, but not so sure we should try that at home!) The fragrance is beautiful. The notes include iced blackberry, feminine tuberose and super sexy leather. While it may sound obscure, the leather note was what made it for me; it's rich and creamy and has just enough edge to conjure the image Fergie's going for: Rock 'n Roll Boudoir (love it!). Of course the talk didn't stop at fragrance. Fergie told me that she loves her hair dark, and almost wishes it were darker, but her natural hair is dirty blonde and keeping up with the roots is tough. Her bandmate Will.I.am might have been DJ-ing but the Black-Eyed Pea getting the most attention last night was surely Fergie.

Having performed in Las Vegas, the group hosted their official after party at celebrity favourite The Bank in the Bellagio Hotel.

And with her glamorous asymmetric dress, and a simple slick of black eye-liner, the singer - whose real name is Stacey Ferguson - was definitely leading the way in the style stakes.

Her on-trend dress - which was embellished with silver beads on one shoulder - and stunning, sleek hair - waist-length with dark extensions - proved the 34-year-old is becoming more of a fashionista with every event she attends.

Her bandmates, on the other hand, dressed-down for the Las Vegas event in leather jackets and slouchy trousers.

Us Weekly scored the exclusive photos of Fergie and Josh Duhamel's wedding this past weekend, and to call the photo disappointing is an understatement.

First off, we were expecting a better wedding photo on their cover. All we can see is the back of her Dolce & Gabbana dress and her messed up hair.

Speaking about her big day, Fergie called her January 10 wedding "magical" and "ethereal."

The lush affair, which was held at the Church Estate Vineyard in Malibu, California was all about small details that "incorporated both our personalities," Duhamel told the magazine.

The couple admits that Fergie had a hard time holding back tears and Josh even had to tell her to "Keep it together, you big baby!"

375 guests enjoyed a 150 pound cake at their $1 million rock 'n' roll wedding.
